The list of problems were picked from suggestions of readers of my blog. I think I picked three interesting ones, varying from easy to a bit more difficult. I think they are all doable in the time available. The specifications to the problems were drawn up by me, but are open for debate through my blog.
I will adjust the specifications based on comments made on the blog and it all will become final at 8 July. If you jump started the race and implementation something that was later on dropped from the requirements, shame on you. You shouldn't start before the word go!
For all problems: it doesn't matter for what operation system you developed the solution. I can look at Windows and Mac entries only though, but if needed I can put up a Unix system. That may take a bit of time though, so chances are I will leave the valuation of Unix entries entirely up to the general public.
Update
it was suggested that extra points can be awarded to people making the solution suitable for http://www.portableapps.com. As the judges make up their own criteria, this is also up to the judges. I don't use portableapps myself, but maybe this is a good time to start.
